Located at the foot of Mount Moses, it was built in the 6th century AD on what is thought to be Moses’s Burning Bush.
It has been called the oldest working Christian monastery and the smallest diocese in the world.
St. Catherine’s is also a formidable fortification, with granite walls measuring 8 to 35 meters tall, surrounded by gardens and cypresse.
Just a few kilometers south of Nuweiba at the very top of the Gulf of Aqaba and just a few hundred meters from the coast.

At about 15 km from Nuweiba you can find Castle Zaman. At true architectural achievement, its construction revived ancient techniques of building stone vaults and cross vaults.
Every single stone in its construction was handpicked from nearby mountains, and neither metal nor concrete were used in the construction process.

Today it is a World Heritage Site that needs little introduction; suffice to say, no visit to Jordan is complete without at least two days spent exploring the remarkable Ancient City
Aqaba, Jordan’s only seaport, lies on the Gulf of Aqaba, a branch of the Red Sea shared with Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Aqaba has historic significance during the Arab Revolt when T.E. Lawrence crossed the desert with Arab forces to capture Aqaba Castle from the Ottoman Turks in 1917. Like the surrounding areas, the clear water and colourful reefs of the Red Sea near Aqaba provides excellent diving.
